PROGRAMME DEVELOPMENT OFFICER
The award-winning innovative See Her Elected (SHE) programme continues
to grow and its success means they are now seeking to expand the SHE
Team by recruiting a DEVELOPMENT OFFICER.
SHE is a national programme to support women into local politics in
rural Ireland. It is a collaboration between Longford Women?s Link

is rooted in grassroots women?s organisations in rural Ireland.
Funding is provided by the Dept. of Housing, Local Government and
Heritage. SHE?s innovative and practical approach to demystifying
local government, and supporting women to run in the local elections
and to be part of campaign teams to help get women elected was
instrumental in the programme winning the prestigious European
Innovation in Politics award in December **Apply on the website**.
Due to the successful growth of the SHE Programme, we now wish to
recruit a DEVELOPMENT OFFICER reporting to the Programme Manager Dr
Michelle Maher. This is a fixed-term contract until December **Apply
on the website**st **Apply on the website**, with the potential for
extension subject to funding. The DEVELOPMENT OFFICER will be employed
by Longford Women?s Link, but day to day will work collaboratively
with the SHE Team of Michelle Maher (Programme Manager) and Mair?ad
O?Shea (Communications Manager). It is a remote working position and
the position will be for four days per week. There may be a
requirement for travel within Ireland but flexibility in working
arrangements will always be a key feature of employment with SHE.
KEY AREAS OF RESPONSIBILITY:
* Working closely as part of the SHE team to contribute to and
further develop the SHE Programme.
* Supporting and developing collaborative projects with stakeholders
such as Local Authorities, Public Participation Networks and County
Councillors.
* Database management to assist in the preparation of work plans,
reports, and performance indicators used in the ongoing review and
evaluation of SHE.
* Supporting and developing the delivery of classes, workshops,
seminars and the SHE Schools Roadshow.
* Carrying out any other activities that will meet the overall
purpose of this post.
PRINCIPAL EXPERIENCE REQUIRED:
Extensive knowledge of local elections, the Irish political system,
local government structures and the barriers faced by women wishing to
engage in local electoral politics. Practical experience of running
for election and/or managing a candidate?s campaign team is
desirable, but not essential to have for the role.
COMPETENCIES REQUIRED:
* Practical political knowledge.
* Strong organisational and planning skills.
* Ability to explain and teach some of the practical skills
necessary for running in local elections as set out in the _See Her
Elected Guide to Running in the **Apply on the website** Local
Elections_. This is available online and the current password to open

* Excellent communication skills (written and verbal).
* An ability to build relationships and strategic alliances.
